Freezer Bag Cooking™

Outdoor Food Simplified

The White Box Stove:

We are featuring the new White Box® design, The 'Cope Rolled Seal®' that is rivet-less and sleeker than ever.

A clean cut design hiding a furnace inside. In our tests, 1 ounce of fuel brings 3 cups of water to a boil at 5500 ft in 4-5 minutes. 2 cups of water takes about 2/3 of an ounce of fuel. It can also be used for larger pans, 2 ounces of fuel will bring 6 cups of water to a boil. This makes it an excellent stove for 2 people to share. It works best with wider bottomed pans (avoid tall and narrow).  A beautiful matte silver finish, it lights fast, and sips fuel. It weighs in at 1 ounce. It is designed to have your pot sit directly on top, making it efficient and having no parts to forget. It works well with Trail Design's primer ring for a quick light.

This little firebox has acquired a number of reviews from around the world, of how well it performs. Mini Bull did a video review. It shows the stove in action. A simple and easy to use stove that will help lighten your pack. For full information on how the stoves are made, see here.

Each stove is made by hand, in Montana by its inventor, Bill. The stove comes with full instructions on use and sturdy wind screen/heat shield, coming in at 2 1/2 ounces total for the windscreen and stove. The stove is now made entirely from 100% recycled materials.

The HPS Esbit Stove:

For those serious about cutting weight and going UL is Doug McCoy's HPS. This tiny stove is extremely light and does what it is designed to do: boil water and get you a hot dinner & drink. This stove doesn't pretend to be anything but that. If you want to go as minimal as you can this is for you. Built in base for a full Esbit tablet. Constructed of riveted aluminum.
0.25 ounce, 2" across & 2" high.

The stove can be used in three ways:

    * Put Esbit fuel in holder and light. Put pot on top.  Testing shows that it will bring 2 cups of water to a boil with Esbit fuel in about 10 1/2 minutes to 12 minutes.
    * Using the metal shell from a tea light candle you can use place the shell in the stove and put alcohol in it. In tests it will boil 12 oz of water in about 11 1/2 minutes and bring 16 oz of water to about 185F* but not boil it without a refill of about a 1/4 oz of fuel.
    * A tea light candle in the stove as an option/ back up. While it won't boil water, it will get you hot water using a mug.

Trail Design's Vari-VentTM Windscreens:

Vari-VentTM Windscreens:

Available in 3 sizes, to fit a wide variety of stoves and personal likes.

Introducing an important innovation in windscreen design, the Vari-Vent! Traditional/Classic/MSR-style windscreens require air to come over the top of your screen and by your pot to fuel your stove. Windscreens with perforation along the bottom don't block the wind and require you to do unnatural acts with boulders. The patent pending Vari-Vent technology provides a series of variable vents along the bottom edge of your windscreen, allowing you to close off the upwind side while keeping the downwind side open. Further, by allowing you to customize your windscreen venting in the field, and offering a range of heights (nominally 4", 6" and 8" - 28" long) to fit your system, you can get it closer to, and higher up, your pot. The edges are rolled to make it stronger and safer to use. The screen will fold flat for storage or you can wrap it around your fuel bottle for easy storage. (4" and 6" screens run 3/8" taller than nominal)

Tips & Tricks for getting the most out of your Vari-VentTM windscreen.
