Stove Maker Doug McCoy's bio:
"I’ve always been intrigued by the outdoors, and as a kid I sometimes stayed on a farm or did some camping, but never really had the opportunity to fully enjoy the outdoors until about 7 years ago (when I got out of the military). In the past four years I have become very serious about backpacking, and it is now more of a lifestyle than an activity. Most of my backpacking is solo and often off trail “via throw a dart on a topo" and plot a route. In accordance with this, I’ve transitioned from “heavy” to “ultralight”, and constantly seek ways to lighten my load and share my ever growing knowledge with others.

As a result of my ever on going quest to lighten my pack, I analyze every aspect of my gear kit in order to try and improve it, but not loose it functionality and comfort. A backpacking forum friend introduced me to the beer can pot (Heiny pot) and I readily noticed that there was no “real” stove for it. So out to my laboratory (garage) I went. Upon emerging from the laboratory the HPS (Heiny Pot Stove) was born. As always I seek to improve an already great product do be on the look out for that. Doug's stove are handmade in Spokane, Washington. I have had the honor of hiking with Doug on two PCT sections as well.
