Using this cozy is
very simple: put your quart freezer bag inside the cozy, add your water, stir
well, seal bag and then close the cozy. Lean the cozy so it is upright
and let the food do its magic. Ultralight, packable, and crushable in your pack. They will deliver hot meals even in the coldest
months. Constructed of machine washable and breathable fabric, it retains
both heat and cold.

Custom Fabric & Sized Cozies
We produce custom cozies using your provided fabric. Price is same
as regular cozies - with these orders we produce two
cozies at once.
We can produce using cotton, washable
wools, fleece, poly blends and heavy duty military cordura fabrics. The requirements are that it is not
a licensed fabric with a copyright (such as cartoon characters) and that it is machine washable. We ask that that for prints you keep them small - it looks better. One way designs can also look a bit funky, as one side of the cozy will be upside down. We will wash and dry it before cutting to ensure your item is preshrunk. Expect about 2-3 weeks from the time you ship it to us till you receive your cozies.
You will need to supply us with a cut length of 28" long of any width fabric (fabric runs 305-60" wide). We will let you know how to mail it to us.
Custom Sized Cozies: We are will work with you
to produce a custom cozy to fit any commercial freeze dried meal bag
(such as Mary Janes Farm®, Mountain House®, Backpackers Pantry® and any other brand. Contact us to discuss options.
The normal size produced is for quart freezer bags. We don't mind mixing up sizes for the two cozies. In the above photo our client had both pint and quart bags made along with candy bar holders. As always, let us know what you would like!

The story behind the FBC Cozies
About two years ago I started thinking about making a UL cozy of my own. I was picky though. It needed to be light, flexible, breathable, squashable and hopefully washable.
There wasn't anything I could find already being made that fit the above. In early 2006 I started making prototypes. They were very rough at first, and still too heavy. I wasn't happy at all with what I was producing. By October of 2006 I had a version I was almost happy with. A shot of me trying that version out, on the saddle above Snow Lake here in Washington, in fall of 2006. A shot of some of the first cozies made early 2007.
Finally on a trip in January of 2007, I was hiking in the snow and cold, and I got the idea in my mind of what exactly the cozy would look like, and how it went together. I couldn't wait to get back home and start sewing. Even then, I still tweak each batch, and little improvements are made.
